Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is this site about?

Ask Pinoy R.N. is an extension of Pinoy R.N. (http://www.PinoyRN.co.nr) which will serve as an information hub where nurses and student nurses can ask their fellow nurses nursing-related questions.

2. How is Ask Pinoy R.N. different from a chatroom or shoutbox?

The idea behind this website is anchored on the Filipino’s bayanihan spirit where we have this natural tendency to help others. As applied on this website, nurses help fellow nurses by offering information to those who seek it by posting questions here.

Unlike a chat room, this is not a place where we say “hi” to our online friends or “talk” when we are bored or when we need to get away from our nursing books and review notes.

Unlike a message board or shoutbox, the community can vote up or vote down answers to a particular question. The person who posted the question can also choose which answer is the best and the most helpful which will cause for the answer to be highlighted. On a message board, users cannot vote up or down rank answers.

3. How do I post a question?

Posting questions is easy. To get started, all you need to do is click on the ‘Post a Question’ button on the upper right hand corner. If this is your first time to ask a question, you will be required to register for free.

You are reminded to use a valid email address when you register. Your log-in details (username and password) will be sent to that email address.

Once registered, you will be able to start posting questions.

4. Can I still delete or modify my question after submitting it?

You cannot delete or modify a question after submitting it. However, if you really have to make some clarifications, you can use the comment form for any additional information. Just keep it concise and related to the original question, though.

5. How will I know when somebody answered my question?

You will be notified via e-mail when somebody answers your question.

6. How do I choose the best answer to my question?

To choose the best answer, click the “Choose as the Right Answer” link below the most helpful comment. You also have the option to choose another answer as the right one.

7. After I have chosen the most helpful answer, can I still change my mind and choose a different answer?

Yes, you have the option to choose another answer as the right one. Go back to the answer you have chosen previously (you can’t miss it, it’s highlighted in green) and click on the ‘Choose Another Answer as the Right One” link just below the comment.

8. How do I answer a question?

To answer a question, click on the question and scroll down to the comments section at the bottom of the page. After answering a question, click on “submit comment” to submit your answer.

9. Once I submit an answer, can I still edit or delete it?

No, you cannot modify or delete an answer once submitted.

10. How do I rate an answer?

The community can vote up or vote down particular answers to a question. To rate an answer, point your mouse to the speech bubble next to the commenter’s name. Click on the plus sign (+ ) if you think the answer is helpful or choose the negative sign ( – ) if you think otherwise.

11. Can I change thew rating I’ve made on an answer?

No, you can’t change a rating you’ve given an answer.

12. Do I treat answers as accurate and up-to-date?

Not all answers by some people will be accurate and up-to-date. We hope to address that by allowing our members to vote up helpful answers and down rank the not-so-helpful ones.

13. Some of the commenters here have their photos in their comments. How do I  upload my own photo?

Those are avatars. You can get one too by signing up at gravatar.

14. How do I edit my profile or change my account password?

When you are logged in to the site, an admin bar will appear at the top of the page. Click on your name/username to edit your profile and change your password.

15. I have questions that are not covered by this FAQ and this site’s TOS, how do I contact site administrator?

For pressing concerns, you can use the contact form located at the right upper corner of the site.
